#IRUN4
I had the opportunity to join runners from around the world at Nike’s #Breaking2 event, and asked them the thing I ask everyone I run with. Why?
If you know, you know, but if you’re not a runner it can be hard to fathom the appeal of a pursuit that is repetitive by nature, requires consistent dedication and inevitably injures everyone who tries.
The runner’s internal drive has been an ongoing fascination since reactively discovered the power of giving it legs after 25 years sport-free, which completely changed the game. Finding myself trackside at Nike’s Breaking 2 attempt in Monza surrounded by people who clearly got the memo on the magic earlier I realised they couldn’t all be chasing medals or numbers on a clock, so set about asking some of running cultures finest what makes them get out there, day after day, KM after KM.
From Black Roses NYC to Paris Running Club FR, Track Mafia LDN to AM:PM.RC AUS, this is why we run.
FYI? No one said medals.
